Marking his 64th birthday, Adani Group Chairman Gautam Adani has officially launched “Vande Bharatam,” a sweeping nationwide initiative aimed at scouting and funding grassroots innovators, problem-solvers, and entrepreneurs across India.
Rather than functioning as a standard, corporate venture capital fund based out of a tech hub, Vande Bharatam is structured as a pan-India mentorship, incubation, and investment pipeline specifically designed to decentralize India’s startup ecosystem.
1. Decentralizing India’s Startup Ecosystem
The core thesis behind Vande Bharatam addresses a stark geographical imbalance in Indian equity funding. While India has grown into one of the largest startup ecosystems globally, more than 80% of venture-backed founders emerge from just five tier-1 cities (such as Bengaluru, Mumbai, and Delhi-NCR).
Vande Bharatam is built to bypass traditional tech corridors entirely:
- Massive Geographic Footprint: The program will physically target and accept applications from all 36 States and Union Territories, cutting deep into more than 800 districts.
- Absolute Open-Access Format: The selection criteria completely remove academic or formal corporate gatekeeping. Applicants of any age or educational background are eligible.
- No Incorporation Required: Unlike typical seed funds, founders do not even need a registered startup to apply. The program accepts anything from a raw conceptual idea or early prototype to an established, revenue-generating business.

2. Targeted Pillars & Specialized Tracks
The program is casting a wide net across both high-tech and traditional operational fields. It features dedicated, priority incubation pathways tailored for historically underfunded founder demographics:
| Industry Sectors Covered | Inclusive Founder Tracks |
| • Core Technology & Artificial Intelligence • Advanced Manufacturing & Logistics • Climate Tech & Sustainability Solutions • Agritech & Rural Productivity Development • Traditional Crafts & Community Enterprises | • Women Entrepreneurs • Rural Innovators • Tribal Entrepreneurs • Divyang (Specially-Abled) Innovators |
3. The Roadmap to the Ahmedabad Grand Finale
The operational framework follows a rapid evaluation filter over the next several weeks, leveraging a structured, multi-tier judging process:
- The Regional Filter: Applications officially went live on June 24 via the initiative’s digital portal. Regional panels will evaluate entries based on local problem-solving capability and market scalability.
- The Immersive Bootcamp: The evaluation rounds will whittle the national field down to 75 selected finalists. These teams will be brought directly to Ahmedabad for a fully funded, immersive acceleration phase.
- The Independence Day Finale: Finalists will gain direct access to Adani Group corporate leaders, strategic ecosystem partnerships, and institutional capital. The intensive mentorship track will culminate in a televised national Grand Finale hosted by acclaimed actor and entrepreneur Rajeev Khandelwal, timed right around Independence Day in August.
Reflecting on the launch, Gautam Adani framed the initiative around his own professional beginnings: “When I began my journey, I had nothing. Everything I am and everything I have achieved was given to me by the soil of Bharat. There is no shortage of talent in our nation, but opportunity has not always reached every corner of the country. Vande Bharatam is our effort to discover the innovators whose ideas deserve recognition, support, and a larger platform.”
