The JSW Group has officially launched a massive investment layout of ₹50,361 crore in Andhra Pradesh.
The industrial push was marked by a cornerstone-laying ceremony in Kadapa district, led by Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu and JSW Group Chairman Sajjan Jindal. The conglomerate’s investment spans steel manufacturing, green energy infrastructure, mining, and industrial parks, creating a projected 50,000 jobs across the state.
1. Breakdown of the ₹50,361 Crore Portfolio
The multi-sector allocation distributes capital across key structural and green manufacturing pillars:
| Sector / Project | District Locations | Investment Amount | Details & Impact |
| Renewable Energy (JSW Neo Energy) | Kadapa, Sri Sathya Sai, Anantapur, Kurnool | ₹20,350 crore | 3,850 MW of solar, wind, and hybrid projects under execution to build a green power corridor. |
| Rayalaseema Steel Plant | Kadapa (Sunnapurallapalle) | ₹16,350 crore | 2 MTPA low-carbon green steel facility powered by clean energy. |
| Mining Sector | Prakasam, Sri Sathya Sai | ₹11,230 crore | Development and modernization of local mineral resources. |
| JSW Industrial Park | Vizianagaram | ₹531 crore | A 1,166-acre plug-and-play manufacturing infrastructure hub. |
2. Breaking the 20-Year Rayalaseema Steel Deadlock
The centerpiece of the package is the JSW Rayalaseema Steel Plant, a project that ends nearly two decades of political delays and symbolic, stalled foundation ceremonies (originally cleared in 2019 and re-announced in 2023 without breaking ground).
- Phased Execution: The integrated plant will cover 1,100 acres. Phase I involves an investment of ₹4,500 crore to establish a 1 Million Tonnes Per Annum (MTPA) footprint. Phase II will deploy ₹11,850 crore to double the output to 2 MTPA. Commercial operations are targeted to start by March 2028.
- Green Steel Tech: Instead of standard coal-intensive blast furnaces, the facility will use modern Electric Arc Furnace (EAF) technology. By utilizing direct reduced iron (DRI) and recycled scrap steel running on renewable power, it is slated to be one of JSW’s lowest carbon emission facilities.
- Captive Power Alignment: To ensure clean operations, JSW Neo Energy is simultaneously building a 400 MW solar captive plant (valued at ₹2,000 crore) right in Kadapa to directly power the industrial facility.
3. Dedicated Infrastructure Backing
To ensure efficient logistics for raw materials and finished structural steel, the state government is fast-tracking accompanying infrastructure:
- Rail Connectivity: Under the PM Gati Shakti initiative, a new 12-kilometer railway link is being mapped by RITES to connect the Kadapa site directly to the Muddanuru Railway Station.
- Road & Water: Dedicated arterial connections to National Highway 67 (NH-67) are actively under construction, alongside an exclusive industrial water pipeline network.
The combination of the JSW expansion, the legacy Visakhapatnam Steel Plant, and parallel projects by ArcelorMittal Nippon Steel underscores a coordinated effort by the state administration to transform Andhra Pradesh into a primary domestic steel and manufacturing hub.
