State-owned oil marketing companies (OMCs) have implemented a significant price cut for 19-kg commercial LPG cylinders, slashing prices by up to ₹183.50, effective July 1, 2026.

This marks the first reduction in commercial cooking gas rates this year, following a relentless series of monthly hikes driven by West Asian energy supply disruptions. The correction offers major operational cost relief to hotels, restaurants, dhabas, and catering businesses across the country.

1. City-Wise Price Breakdown

While the maximum cut of ₹183.50 applies directly to markets like Delhi and Lucknow, final price reductions across major metros range between ₹173 and ₹183.50 based on local transport logistics and state levies:

Metropolitan CityOld Price (June 2026)New Price (July 1, 2026)Direct Net Reduction
New Delhi₹3,113.50₹2,930.00-₹183.50
Mumbai₹3,067.50₹2,885.50-₹182.00
Kolkata₹3,255.50₹3,081.50-₹174.00
Chennai₹3,283.00₹3,106.00-₹177.00
Bengaluru₹3,198.00₹3,021.00-₹177.00
Patna₹3,400.00₹3,227.00-₹173.00

💡 Smaller Tanks Also Cheaper: Alongside the massive 19-kg cuts, the price of the 5-kg Free Trade LPG (FTL) cylinder has also been reduced by ₹13, bringing the retail price down to ₹808.50 in the national capital.

2. Why Are Prices Falling Now?

The sudden drop in rates stems directly from the government lifting emergency energy protocols and a cooling global supply market:

  • Lifting Supply Quotas: Last week, the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas officially rolled back strict sector-specific limits on commercial gas. During the height of the maritime transit blocks, the government had diverted bulk volumes to protect household needs, restricting hotels and industrial plants to just 50% to 70% of their typical allocations. Full commercial distribution channels have now been restored.
  • Crude Volatility Cools: With diplomatic talks stabilizing shipping traffic through the critical Strait of Hormuz, global Brent crude has slid down by nearly a third over the past quarter, hovering around a much more manageable $73 a barrel mark.

3. Domestic Cooking Gas (14.2-kg) Stays Unchanged

While commercial operators are celebrating the pricing break, everyday household budgets will see no change. The price of the 14.2-kg domestic LPG cylinder remains completely unchanged at ₹942 in New Delhi. Domestic rates were last modified on June 7, when they underwent a minor upward adjustment of ₹29.

Historically, domestic cooking gas is heavily insulated by government subsidies to shield households from international energy shocks, meaning its pricing trajectory does not mirror the sharp monthly swings of commercial, market-linked fuel variants.
