Actor and entrepreneur Kunal Kapoor has formally announced the launch of MetaGO, a specialized, doctor-led metabolic health and healthtech platform.

The Mumbai-based startup is designed to help individuals manage obesity, Type 2 diabetes, polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), and related metabolic conditions through continuous, evidence-based clinical care rather than short-term weight-loss gimmicks.

1. The Power Team Behind the Platform

The startup reunites a highly successful team of digital entrepreneurs. MetaGO has been co-founded by Kunal Kapoor alongside Varun Sheth (who serves as CEO) and Zaheer Adenwala.

The trio previously spent over a decade building Ketto, one of India’s largest healthcare crowdfunding platforms. The founders stated that the idea for MetaGO emerged directly from witnessing a recurring pattern on Ketto: thousands of families seeking emergency medical fundraising for advanced heart disease or diabetes complications that had actually started as untreated metabolic imbalances years prior.

2. Comprehensive, Biomarker-Driven Care Model

MetaGO differentiates itself from standard fitness apps by taking a strictly medical approach to weight and metabolic management:

  • At-Home Deep Diagnostics: Every member begins their journey with a comprehensive metabolic assessment tracking more than 35 distinct biomarkers, followed by a detailed clinical evaluation.
  • Specialist Panel Routing: Based on the diagnostic blood panel, a personalized treatment plan is constructed by a panel of medical specialists, including endocrinologists, diabetologists, cardiologists, or internal medicine physicians.
  • The Continuous Care Ecosystem: Rather than episodic, one-off virtual consultations, the startup utilizes a connected framework where doctors, lifestyle health coaches, and nutritionists maintain ongoing monitoring and dynamically update treatment plans as the patient progresses.

3. Integrating Supervision with Advanced GLP-1 Therapies

The platform launches amidst a global transformation in obesity care fueled by appetite-regulating GLP-1 medications (such as Semaglutide). Where clinically appropriate and prescribed by an expert physician, MetaGO incorporates these evidence-based therapies into a user’s treatment path.

However, Kunal Kapoor heavily emphasized that medication is only a single piece of the journey, stating:

GLP-1 therapies have genuinely changed what’s possible for many people living with obesity, but medication is only one part of the journey. Lasting outcomes come from combining it with medical supervision, nutrition, behaviour change and ongoing support. Nobody should be left alone with a strong drug and a printout.”

4. Addressing India’s “Hidden” Metabolic Crisis

The platform enters the Indian market at a time when healthcare focus is shifting toward preventive and longitudinal care.

The founders note that Indians carry a high vulnerability to metabolic risks, often storing dangerous visceral fat even at a completely normal Body Mass Index (BMI). By creating an integrated care model that delivers medical onboarding and diagnostics straight to a user’s doorstep, MetaGO aims to democratize advanced metabolic care across the country. As part of its early launch outreach, the company recently organized a free metabolic health and diagnostics camp for the Mumbai Police.
