In one of the largest single enterprise AI deployments to date, Big Four professional services firm KPMG has signed a landmark global alliance with Anthropic. The massive rollout provides all 276,000+ KPMG partners and employees across 138 countries and territories with direct access to the Claude AI suite.

Rather than treating the AI as an external, standalone chat application, the deal deeply embeds Claude natively into the core software ecosystems where KPMG’s teams and clients operate day-to-day.

The Digital Gateway: Collapsing Weeks into Minutes

The cornerstone of the rollout is the integration of Claude into KPMG Digital Gateway, the firm’s central client delivery platform built on Microsoft Azure. The environment already houses KPMG’s vast proprietary tools, tax insights, and sensitive client data repositories.

Instead of basic text assistance, the firm is utilizing Anthropic’s advanced agentic capabilities:

  • Claude Cowork & Managed Agents: These advanced frameworks run directly inside the Digital Gateway, starting with specialized tools for Tax & Legal client workflows.
  • Operational Velocity: The practical shift is massive. Building a tailored AI agent to help a client adapt to changing, hyper-localized tax regulations used to take teams several weeks of manual cross-referencing between multiple windows. With Managed Agents integrated natively, that exact deployment loop now takes mere minutes.

Becoming the Preferred Partner for Private Equity

The alliance extends far past an internal productivity upgrade, transitioning directly into client-billable consulting engagements. Anthropic has officially named KPMG as its preferred consultant for Private Equity (PE) deployments.

KPMG will actively consult on, build, and deploy Anthropic AI architectures across the vast networks of operating businesses that PE firms own.

Accelerating Portfolio Tech Stacks: As part of this PE focus, KPMG is introducing KPMG Blaze. The product leverages Claude Code—Anthropic’s specialized tool for developers—to help portfolio companies modernize aging, legacy IT infrastructure, cut down software development lifecycles, and ship AI-enabled enterprise code significantly faster.

Dual Focus: Governance and Cybersecurity

Because auditing, assurance, and tax advisory require absolute data integrity, the deal includes stringent security guardrails:

  • Trusted AI Framework: Every automated workflow built by Claude is bound by KPMG’s strict, predetermined Trusted AI framework to enforce regulatory compliance.
  • Active Threat Remediation: KPMG and Anthropic teams are concurrently utilizing Claude’s advanced logical reasoning to actively hunt down, audit, and patch vulnerabilities within critical corporate infrastructure.

The firmwide commitment scales up two years of highly successful closed-room testing inside KPMG’s US Advisory arm and its specialized AI and Data Labs. By standardizing its entire global operation on a single AI provider, KPMG is leading a trend where professional services move entirely past minor experimental pilots into permanent, platform-wide enterprise commitments.
