WhatsApp Launches AI-Powered ‘Writing Help’ for Better Messaging

0

WhatsApp has rolled out a powerful new AI-driven feature called “Writing Help”. It enables users to rephrase, proofread, and adjust the tone of their messages—offering options like professional, funny, supportive, and more—to help craft the perfect response. The feature is already available in select countries, currently supporting English only.

Privacy at Its Core

Writing Help operates on Meta’s Private Processing technology. This means neither WhatsApp nor Meta can read or store your original message or AI-generated suggestions—connecting privacy and convenience like never before.

How It Works

  • Access: Open any chat and draft your message.
  • Tap the pencil icon (replaces the sticker icon) to access AI suggestions.
  • Choose from recommended styles—professional, funny, supportive, proofread, or simply rephrase.
  • Preview and edit as needed; recipients won’t know if AI helped.Moneycontrol

Rollout Details

  • Rolling out now in English, starting in the United States and select other countries.
  • The feature is optional and disabled by default, emphasizing user control.
  • Broader region and language support are expected later in 2025.

Why It Matters

  • Enhanced Communication: Users can craft tone-appropriate messages with ease—from lighthearted humor to formal professionalism.
  • Stops Message Fatigue: Saves time and frustration by polishing drafts in-app, and keeping users off external tools like ChatGPT.
  • Trust Through Privacy: Integration with Private Processing underlines Meta’s commitment to balancing AI advancement with strong user privacy safeguards.
