Vodafone Idea (Vi) has reported a net loss of ₹27,383.4 crore for the financial year ending March 31, 2025, a reduction from ₹31,238.4 crore in FY24. This decline in losses is attributed to increased revenues and improved operational efficiencies.

In the fourth quarter of FY25, Vi’s net loss stood at ₹7,166 crore, compared to ₹7,674 crore in the same quarter the previous year. Revenue for Q4FY25 rose by 3.8% year-on-year to ₹11,013.5 crore, driven by tariff hikes and customer upgrades. The average revenue per user (ARPU) increased to ₹175 from ₹153 in Q4FY24, marking a 14.2% year-on-year growth.
Strategic Initiatives and Capital Expenditure
Vi’s board has approved a plan to raise up to ₹20,000 crore through various means, including equity and debt instruments, to support its 4G and 5G expansion plans. The company invested ₹4,230 crore in capital expenditure during Q4FY25, the highest quarterly investment since its merger. For the full year, capex totaled ₹9,570 crore.
Debt Position and Government Stake
As of March 31, 2025, Vi’s total debt, including bank loans and long-term liabilities linked to spectrum and adjusted gross revenue (AGR), stood at ₹1.97 lakh crore. Outlook
Despite the financial challenges, Vi’s management remains optimistic. CEO Akshaya Moondra stated that Q4FY25 was a “turnaround quarter,” highlighting the highest average daily revenue in five years and a significant reduction in subscriber loss. The company is actively exploring debt financing options to fund capital expenditures estimated between ₹50,000 crore and ₹55,000 crore over the next few years.
