US Military strike 3,000 targets in Iran with AI support

U.S. military has significantly surpassed the 3,000-target milestone in its ongoing conflict with Iran, known as Operation Epic Fury.

According to a Pentagon briefing held late yesterday by Secretary of War Pete Hegseth and General Dan Caine, U.S. Central Command has now struck more than 5,000 targets inside Iran since the operation began on February 28, 2026.

The Role of AI in “Epic Fury”

The 2026 conflict is being characterized by military analysts as the first large-scale “AI-supported” air war.

  • Target Refinement: General Caine confirmed that AI-enhanced intelligence has allowed the U.S. to refine its targeting “better than ever,” enabling parallel strikes on thousands of sites with surgical precision.
  • Autonomous Hunting: U.S. forces are using AI-driven systems to “hunt and strike” mobile threats, specifically Iranian mine-laying vessels and mobile ballistic missile launchers that are often hidden in civilian or underground areas.
  • Cyber Integration: The initial phase relied heavily on AI-enhanced cyber operations to systematically degrade Iran’s ability to “see, communicate, and respond,” effectively blinding their air defense networks before the first physical missiles were even launched.

Operational Milestones (Day 12: March 11, 2026)

The intensity of the strikes reached a new peak yesterday, described by Hegseth as the “most intense day of strikes yet.”

CategoryStatus / Achievement
Total Targets Hit5,000+ (Up from 3,000 reported on March 7).
Naval NeutralizationOver 50 Iranian naval ships destroyed, including a drone carrier and 16 mine-laying vessels sunk yesterday near the Strait of Hormuz.
Missile AttritionCentcom reports that Iranian ballistic missile attacks have trended downward by 90% since the start of the war.
Drone ProductionOne-way attack drone launches have decreased by 83% following the destruction of several key Iranian drone factories.

The “Unconditional Surrender” Demand

President Trump has maintained a hardline stance on Truth Social, stating that there will be “no deal with Iran except UNCONDITIONAL SURRENDER.”

  • Regime Alteration: The U.S. objective has shifted toward ensuring the Iranian leadership is replaced by “great and acceptable” leaders before any reconstruction begins.
  • MIGA (Make Iran Great Again): The President has coined a new slogan for the post-war phase, vowing to help rebuild Iran into an economically stronger nation once the current regime capitulates.

Current Regional Situation

  • Strait of Hormuz: Remains a de facto war zone. While the U.S. has sunk 16 mine-laying ships, reports indicate the waterway is still virtually closed to commercial traffic.
  • Retaliatory Strikes: Iran continues to launch sporadic missile and drone attacks. Early this morning, Doha (Qatar) reported multiple explosions, and the UAE intercepted 92% of incoming projectiles over the last 11 days.
  • Energy Impact: Despite the heavy strikes, the U.S. has reportedly urged Israel to halt attacks on Iran’s energy infrastructure to preserve the sector for post-war cooperation.
