Tesla officially began the international rollout of xAI’s Grok to vehicles in the United Kingdom and Europe on February 15, 2026. This expansion, delivered via software update 2026.2.6, marks the first time the intelligent assistant has been available in these regions since its North American debut.
Initially, the rollout covers nine key markets: the UK, Ireland, Germany, Switzerland, Austria, Italy, France, Portugal, and Spain, with further expansion expected throughout the continent in the coming weeks.
Key Features of the In-Car Integration
Unlike traditional voice commands, Grok acts as a conversational “sidekick” with real-time access to information from the X (formerly Twitter) platform.
- Natural Language Navigation: You can issue complex, conversational commands such as, “Find a highly-rated Thai restaurant near me, check for a nearby Supercharger with open stalls, and then plan a scenic route there.”
- Real-Time Data: Drivers can ask about live news, sports scores, weather, or traffic updates without taking their hands off the wheel.
- Selectable Personalities: Users can customize Grok’s tone. Modes include:
- Assistant: The recommended setting for navigation and utility.
- Specialty Modes: Storyteller, Language Tutor, Meditation, and Therapist.
- Novelty Modes: Sarcastic settings like “Unhinged” or “Conspiracy” (restricted to adult profiles).
- Vehicle Manual Integration: Grok can explain dashboard warning lights or provide instructions on how to use specific car features directly from the owner’s manual.

To access Grok, your vehicle must meet specific technical criteria:

- Setup: When you first open the app, you can choose your preferred voice (e.g., “Leo” for a British male voice or “Ara” for an upbeat female voice) and set your default personality.
Note on Controls: Currently in Beta, Grok is focused on information and navigation. It cannot yet control hardware functions like adjusting climate, opening windows, or media volume—those tasks still require the standard “Hey Tesla” voice commands.
