Manus launch chat-based Manus Agents for messaging apps

0

Manus (recently acquired by Meta) officially launched Manus Agents, bringing its full autonomous task execution engine directly into messaging apps. Telegram is the first supported platform, allowing users to delegate complex workflows through a familiar chat interface without leaving the app.

The rollout is part of a broader strategy by CEO Xiao Hong to make AI agents accessible “wherever you already communicate,” with plans to expand to WhatsApp, Slack, and Discord within the next 30 days.

Key Capabilities of Manus Agents

Unlike traditional chatbots that merely generate text, Manus Agents are designed for multi-step execution and tool integration.

  • Full Reasoning Engine: The Telegram integration uses the same reasoning engine as the web platform. It can research, code, generate documents, and handle file operations autonomously.
  • Persistent Memory: The agents remember your specific style, tone, and past preferences, creating a continuous “digital analyst” experience across chat sessions.
  • Multimodal Interaction: Users can send voice notes (for transcription and task triggering), photos (for image editing or product mockup creation), and documents (for analysis and structured output).
  • Syncing: Conversations are fully synced between the Telegram chat and the Manus web/mobile apps.

How it Works: Setup in Seconds

Manus has prioritized a “no-setup” experience to compete with technical alternatives like OpenClaw.

  1. QR Integration: Users link their accounts by scanning a QR code in the Manus dashboard. No API tokens or servers are required.
  2. Model Selection: Users can switch between Manus 1.6 Max (for deep reasoning and creative work) and Manus 1.6 Lite (for faster, everyday tasks).
  3. Privacy Guardrails: The company states the agent only has access to messages sent directly to it and cannot see other Telegram chats, groups, or contacts.

Recent Context: The Meta Acquisition

The launch follows the December 2025 acquisition of Manus by Meta for a reported $2 billion.

  • Independence: Meta is currently maintaining Manus as a separate product while integrating its “agentic” technology into the broader Meta AI ecosystem.
  • The “Red Xiao” Leadership: CEO Xiao Hong, known as “Red Xiao,” now reports directly to Meta’s COO, focusing on building a sustainable foundation for autonomous AI.

“This is not a lightweight chatbot add-on. It’s the same Manus—with full reasoning, tools, and multi-step task execution—now available through chat.” — Manus Official Blog.
