ElevenLabs release new app ‘ElevenMusic’

Expanding its reach from synthetic voices to full-scale audio production, ElevenLabs has officially launched ElevenMusic, its first dedicated consumer-facing music creation app. Released on the iOS App Store following a month-long “silent” beta, the app allows users to generate, remix, and discover AI-composed music using simple natural language prompts.

The launch follows ElevenLabsโ€™ massive $500 million Series C round in February, which valued the company at $11 billion, and signals a direct challenge to established AI music platforms like Suno and Udio.

1. The “Vibe-to-Song” Workflow

ElevenMusic is designed for speed and “creative play,” moving away from the complex dashboards of professional DAWs (Digital Audio Workstations).

  • Prompt-to-Track: Users can generate complete songsโ€”including vocals and instrumentalsโ€”by describing a mood, genre, or specific scenario (e.g., “A lo-fi jazz track for a rainy late-night drive in Tokyo”).
  • Remixing & Forking: A core feature of the app is the ability to “remix” tracks created by other users. You can take an existing melody and apply a new prompt to change its style or tempo.
  • Granular Controls: Users can toggle between purely instrumental tracks or full vocal performances, adjust song lengths (up to 5 minutes), and even input specific lyrics.

2. The Discovery Layer: “AI Spotify”

Unlike ElevenLabs’ previous web-only tools, ElevenMusic features a heavy social and discovery component:

FeatureFunctionality
Live StationsContinuous, AI-generated streams categorized by mood (Focus, Workout, Chill).
Themed MixesDaily curated playlists of the best community-generated tracks.
Trending ChartsA leaderboard for the most-liked and most-remixed AI songs globally.

3. Pricing & Limits

ElevenLabs is using a “freemium” model to rapidly scale its user base.

  • Free Tier: Allows for up to 7 track generations per day. Users can browse and listen to the discovery feed without limits.
  • Pro Plan ($9.99/mo): Bumps the generation limit to 500 tracks per month, unlocks 500GB of cloud storage for projects, and provides access to “Pro-only” experimental styles and high-fidelity moods.
  • Commercial Rights: Music generated on paid tiers is reportedly cleared for commercial use (social media, ads, podcasts), supported by ElevenLabs’ 2025 licensing deals with rights holders like Merlin and Kobalt.

4. Technical Edge: “In-Painting”

The app benefits from the latest Eleven Music v3 model updates, which introduce Sectional In-Painting. This allows users to “paint over” a specific 10-second section of a songโ€”such as a chorus that didn’t quite hitโ€”and regenerate just that part without losing the rest of the track’s structure.

5. Ethical Guardrails & The “Eleven Album”

To avoid the legal pitfalls currently facing other AI music generators, ElevenLabs has integrated a “Rights Screening” engine.

  • No Artist Mimicry: The model is hard-coded to refuse prompts that ask for the specific voice or style of living artists (e.g., “Sing like Taylor Swift”).
  • The Eleven Album: To showcase the app’s capability, ElevenLabs released The Eleven Album earlier this year, featuring AI-assisted tracks from legends like Art Garfunkel and Liza Minnelli, emphasizing the model’s use as a collaborative tool for professional artists.
