India’s ‘Operation Sindoor’: 80+ Terrorists Eliminated in Precision Strikes

India Launches ‘Operation Sindoor’ Targeting Terror Camps in Pakistan and PoK Following Pahalgam Attack

In a decisive military move, India initiated ‘Operation Sindoor’ on May 7, 2025, executing precision airstrikes on nine locations in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK). This action was a direct response to the April 22 terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, which resulted in the deaths of 26 civilians, including a Nepali tourist. The operation aimed to dismantle terrorist infrastructures allegedly linked to groups such as Jaish-e-Mohammed and Lashkar-e-Taiba

Operation Sindoor: Strategic Execution

The Indian Armed Forces conducted the strikes using advanced weaponry, including Rafale jets equipped with SCALP missiles and AASM Hammer bombs. The targeted sites encompassed terror camps, training centers, and logistical hubs in areas like Bahawalpur, Muridke, Kotli, and Muzaffarabad. According to Indian defense sources, over 80 terrorists were eliminated during the operation

The operation was meticulously planned to avoid civilian casualties and prevent escalation. Indian officials emphasized that the strikes were confined to terrorist infrastructures, steering clear of Pakistani military installations

Pakistan’s Response and Escalation

Pakistan condemned the strikes as an “act of war,” reporting civilian casualties, including women and children, and damage to religious sites . In retaliation, Pakistan claimed to have shot down five Indian fighter jets, a claim India has not confirmed. Additionally, Pakistan initiated artillery shelling across the Line of Control (LoC), resulting in further civilian casualties and prompting evacuations in border areas

International Reactions and Diplomatic Efforts

The international community expressed deep concern over the escalating tensions between the two nuclear-armed neighbors. The United Nations and countries like the United States and the United Kingdom urged both nations to exercise restraint and engage in dialogue to prevent further escalation

Historical Context and Implications

This confrontation marks the most significant escalation between India and Pakistan since the 2019 Pulwama-Balakot crisis. The Pahalgam attack, attributed to Pakistan-based militant groups, reignited longstanding tensions over cross-border terrorism. India’s swift military response underscores its commitment to counter-terrorism and protecting its citizens

The situation remains volatile, with both nations on high alert. The potential for further military engagements poses a serious threat to regional stability and underscores the urgent need for diplomatic interventions.
