Mythik, the Mumbai-headquartered media-tech company founded by veteran entrepreneur Jason Kothari, has successfully closed a $5 million top-up funding round, driving its post-money valuation past the $50 million mark.
The fresh capital acts as a strategic extension to Mythik’s massive $15 million seed round closed in May 2025, bringing the startup’s total equity funding to $20 million.
1. The Strategy: Building the “Disney from the East”
Operating through Mythik Entertainment Technologies Private Limited, the company is leveraging advanced technology—including proprietary Generative AI production engines and virtual production workflows—to modernize Eastern mythology, folk traditions, and historical narratives into premium, short-form digital video properties.
- The Addressable Audience: Mythik’s core thesis is built around capturing a massive, built-in global audience of nearly 3.5 billion people who share cultural roots or interests in Asian, Indian, and Middle Eastern epics and legends.
- Production Efficiencies: Rather than relying on traditional, slow-moving studio pipelines, the platform uses AI to rapidly prototype, animate, and stitch together complex mythological universes into high-quality, 10-to-12-minute digital storytelling experiences.
2. High-Profile Cap Table Expansion
The extension round attracted a powerhouse lineup of prominent Indian business leaders, global private equity heads, and family offices:
- New Investor Cohort: The fresh funding was backed by Harsh Jain (Founder & CEO of fantasy sports unicorn Dream11), Rajat Gupta (former Global Managing Director of McKinsey & Co. and co-founder of ISB), Zubin Bharti Mittal (Bharti Mittal Family Office), and Ishan Sinha (Head of Private Investing at Point72). The Blume Founders Fund (the early-stage vector of Blume Ventures) and Rooshabh Shah (SVAR Projects) also joined the round.
- Existing Investor Support: Prior institutional backers doubled down on the expansion, including the Sakal Media Group, the Patni Family Office, the Parekh Family Office, and veteran asset management executive Samir Vora.
3. Financial Trajectory & Scaled Bench Strength
Unlike many early-stage AI ventures that struggle with monetization, Mythik is scaling on top of a highly sustainable financial foundation:
| Fiscal Metric | FY24-25 Performance | Year-on-Year (YoY) Shift |
| Operating Revenue | ₹16.8 Crore (~$1.98 Million) | +786% (up from ₹1.9 Cr) |
| Net Profit (PAT) | ₹1.6 Crore | +846% (up from ₹17.4 Lakh) |
| EBITDA | ₹2.7 Crore | Up from ₹28 Lakh |
| Extended Team Size | 200+ Professionals | Includes hires from Disney, Netflix, and Amazon Studios |
Founder and CEO Jason Kothari—notable for previously executing the historic turnaround and $100 million sale of comic book publisher Valiant Entertainment—confirmed that the fresh $5 million injection will be directly deployed to accelerate the studio’s content slate, deepen its immersive AI tech stack, and prepare for a phased rollout of its digital consumer experiences later this year.
